Swamp Dogs is a Non-Profit Organization in the State of Illinois. The Swamp Dogs - The Matt Grawey Classic 10k - 4k is part of the IVS-Brooks-CITRA 2008 Trail Series, which hosts trails races in and around the Peoria area. Who was Matt Grawey?

Matt Grawey grew up in the Peoria area, and attended Peoria Notre Dame High School and Knox College. While in high school and college, Matt participated in both cross country and track. He loved running, especially on the beautiful trails of Jubilee College State Park. Matt's life came to an early end from a car crash at the age of only twenty-two years old. The Swamp Dogs - Matt Grawey Classic 10k - 4k is organized to remember, celebrate, and honor the life of Matt. Last year (2007) $2,000 was raised in Matt's name and donated to benefit the students as Garfield Primary School in Peoria - the school Matt was teaching at during the time of his death. All proceeds from this year's race will be donated to Peoria Promise in Matt’s name. Peoria Promise is an opportunity for qualifying City of Peoria graduates to receive a scholarship covering full tuition and books towards a degree or certificate at Illinois Central College.
